Last night at a neighborhood homebrew and craft brew beer appreciation meeting (amongst the 24" of falling snow), we played a kind of morbid game: What beer style would you pick if you could only have one?

Let's forget that many wouldn't want to restrict themselves from the epicurean adventure of beer exploration, but if you had to choose something to sustain you throughout the year what would it be?

The answer might be your favorite style or maybe one that had a more universal/multi-seasonal appeal.

I was surprised at some friends' answers. I pegged a few for IPA and brown ales, but was delighted(?) when they picked my favorite: Tripel.
Others on the list were IPA and Heffeweisen.

(PS. The response could have been related to having just been treated to taste test my friend's "Tripel: three ways". All one homebrewed wort but with split up into three variations with 3 different yeasts: White Labs 500 (Chimmay), 530 and 575. I like 530 the best.)
